We love visiting Universal Orlando with our 8- and 4-year-old! We started taking trips when Little E was just two, and we’ve learned that the real fun begins when kids reach 32–36” tall—that’s when they can start riding more attractions.

If you’re considering a weekend getaway to Universal Orlando with young kids, here are some must-know tips and tricks to make your trip smooth and stress-free!

What to Expect

Universal Orlando now has three theme parks and a water park, but for this guide, we’ll focus on the two original parks:

  • Universal Studios Florida
  • Islands of Adventure

While Universal is known for thrilling roller coasters, there’s plenty for younger kids to enjoy! Some of our favorite areas include:

  • DreamWorks Land (NEW in 2024!) – featuring Shrek, Trolls, and Kung Fu Panda
  • Minion Land – full of fun Despicable Me-themed attractions
  • Seuss Landing – a must for little ones who love Dr. Seuss stories
