One thing to know about me is that I am a recovering perfectionist. So, as you read my blog posts, please chuckle, as one day I’m following what I know works and a day (or a few hours later), my life has descended back into chaos. And that is okay! The key is to make sure the things that really matter—the things that have huge long-term implications—are the things you are making sure are happening.
Another reminder—life happens. This stuff would be easy if you weren’t juggling a million different responsibilities. Work, kids, home, relationships, self-care—they all demand attention, and at times, it feels like everything is slipping through your fingers. So where do you even start when everything feels overwhelming?
Start with a pause. When life feels chaotic, the instinct is often to do more, hustle harder, and push through. But sometimes, the best thing you can do is take a step back. Breathe. Acknowledge the overwhelm without judgment. Give yourself permission to reset, and ride the wave!
Next, identify your non-negotiables. These are the things that, no matter what, you want to ensure happen in your daily life. They will look different for everyone, but they might include quality time with your kids, getting enough sleep, eating well, or carving out even five minutes of quiet time for yourself. The goal is to focus on what truly matters, rather than trying to do everything at once.
Then, simplify and prioritize. Look at everything on your plate and ask yourself: What is essential? What can be delegated? What can be let go of, at least for now? Perfectionists (like me!) often struggle with this because we want to do it all, and we want to do it well. But when everything is urgent, nothing really is. Make peace with the idea that done is better than perfect.
Finally, take one small, manageable action. It could be making a list, setting a boundary, asking for help, or just committing to getting to bed at a reasonable hour tonight. Small steps lead to big changes, and every bit of progress counts.
Moving from frantic to fulfilled isn’t about having it all together all the time. It’s about knowing what truly matters and making intentional choices to align your life with those priorities. It’s about giving yourself grace and space to be human.
So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed today, start here. Pause. Identify your non-negotiables. Simplify. Take one small step forward. You’ve got this!

Pausing…..that’s something that I always feel I don’t have time for. But the reality is, if you don’t take a pause then your efficiency level drops. Pausing is an easy step to forget or forgo, but in an overwhelmed state it’s the most important! Love this!
Yes! Whether it’s a 10-minute meditation, 5 deep breaths, or a walk around the block, pausing is a huge part of handling too much to do!
