Before we jump in, let’s do a quick recap! In Post 2, we talked about getting everything on paper—mapping out your commitments, deadlines, and priorities so you have a clear view of what’s ahead. Now that we’ve done that, it’s time to take the next step: organizing your thoughts and tasks in a way that helps you take action.
One of the biggest reasons we feel overwhelmed is because our to-do lists live in our heads. They swirl around, growing longer by the minute, leaving us feeling scattered and stuck. That’s where brain dumping and mind mapping come in! These tools will help you clear mental clutter, organize your responsibilities, and create a plan that actually works.
First: Brain dump and mind map.
Take a moment to brain dump everything that’s on your mind. Then, organize it into a mind map to visually lay out your tasks and priorities. Be sure to include things from your calendar that require your attention or time. Here’s a template you can use. You can get a downloadable PDF for free by subscribing to our newsletter, and you’ll also be the first to know about our latest posts!

Next: Take action on your mind map.
- Do the easy stuff now. Set a timer for 10 minutes and knock some small tasks off your list—completing a school form, buying a baby shower gift online, or texting an RSVP. This helps reduce the list and gives you a dopamine boost from making progress.
- Find the urgent and important. Go through your mind map and circle anything that will have real consequences if it doesn’t get done. Recognizing what truly matters in the short term keeps you from scrambling later and prevents unnecessary stress.
Now that you’ve brain dumped and mapped out your priorities it’s time to lighten the load! In the next post, we’ll talk about delegation – because you don’t have to do it all alone! Whether it’s leaning on your village, using technology, or outsourcing, we’ll explore simple ways to free up your time and energy. Stay tuned!
